ADMISSION POLICY
Greensboro Islamic Academy (GIA) operates on a non-discriminatory basis, according equal treatment and access to services without any regard to race, color, national origin or ancestry. While education is provided from an Islamic perspective, children of any religion may be admitted. Parents of non-Islamic faith should bear in mind that Islamic education is part of all curricula and the essence of the school's being.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
KINDERGARTEN
Student must be 5 (five) years old on or before August 31 of the year of enrolment into Kindergarten. Students entering for Kindergarten will be considered on a case-by-case basis pending the availability of space, results of a school readiness exam and a score of 98% or better on a professionally administered psychological evaluation.
1ST GRADE AND ABOVE
Student must be able to demonstrate both academic success and behavioral compliance in their previous educational environment. Some students may require additional assessment data to be obtained at the parent’s expense and/or sit for an in-house assessment set by the academy.
For all students: Current report card must demonstrate that the student is at grade level in all core subjects (“3” for both elementary and middle school students). Current report card must demonstrate that the student`s Work Habits and Conduct should be average or above for all 4 quarters. In addition, the student has to demonstrate average or better on the in-school assessment.
RESTRICTIONS
Currently, the school is not able to accept children with emotional and/or learning disabilities since such programs are not yet available at the school and the academy is not able to meet the needs of these children.
After accepting a child, if it is determined that he/she has emotional and/or behavioral problems and/or has learning disabilities, the student will be requested to withdraw from the school to a program that is designed to meet his/her learning needs.

Parents are required to complete and submit the following documents:

Medical Release Forms (to the child's physician).
School Records Release Forms (to former schools attended by the student).
Certified Birth Certificate.
Social Security Card or Passport.
Pay the non-refundable Application Fee of $35.00

Parents must provide medical records to be kept on file in the school, as evidence that the student was immunized with minimum vaccine dosages before entering the school.
TUITION AND FEES POLICY
Tuition is due at the beginning of each month or it can be paid by the quarter or year. (Please see the attached Tuition Payment Schedule for this year’s tuition.)
All initial fees (e.g. Registration Fees) are due no later than the first day of school.
Books, Supplies and Materials Fees are $350.00 per year. A minimum payment of $50.00 must be made on Open House Day if parents wish to pay this fee in installments. But, this fee must be fully settled before the End-of-Grade Exam. Otherwise, your child will not be permitted to sit for the EOG.
A penalty of $8.00 is applied to all returned checks.
Payments that are not made by the 10th of each month may result in the suspension of the child. The child will be re-admitted once the fees are paid or suitable arrangements have been made in writing to the administration office.
NO child will be re-admitted to the school if there is any outstanding tuition or lost/damage fees due from a previous semester or year.
Transcripts, records or grades will NOT be furnished to the student or other schools until ALL outstanding debts are paid or suitable arrangements have been made in writing.
All fees pertaining to a certain Quarter (e.g. tuition, portion of the book fees, etc.) must be paid 3 (three) weeks before each quarterly exam, including the End-of-Grade exam. Otherwise, the student will NOT be allowed to sit for said quarterly / EOG exam.
It is the parent’s responsibility to fill up application forms for any scholarship, to provide all supporting documents needed, and to inform the school management before the deadline date.
FINANCIAL AID
Currently Greensboro Islamic Academy does not offer Financial Aid for students. Families will be notified with any update.
